From a High School Auditorium to a Lasting Landmark: The Founding of St. Thomas Becket Parish in Cheshire
When construction neared completion in 1973, parishioners were greeted by one of the most architecturally distinctive churches in Cheshire.
The building featured a dramatic stained-glass mosaic covering the upper portion of its front façade, created by the noted artistic team of Jonyas and Shepherd of Hollis, New York.
Inside, the sanctuary reflected the liturgical changes introduced after the Second Vatican Council.

Archbishop Whealon Dedicates St. Thomas Becket Church as Cheshire Parish Enters a New Era
The dedication Mass drew a capacity congregation of parishioners and invited guests.
Presiding over the ceremonies was The Most Reverend John F. Whealon, Archbishop of Hartford.

Before ice hockey became an officially sanctioned varsity sport, Cheshire students organized and played as a club team. The club program was founded and coached by Dean Hodgson, whose dedication and enthusiasm helped establish organized hockey within the community.
